Material Culture, Borders & Borderlessness Through Millennia | الثقافة الملموسة والحدود واللاحدود عبر آلاف السنين
Standing at the crossroads of three continents and the three major monotheistic religions, Palestine’s roots curl deeply into history’s soil and extend far through time.
Unlike the mythically tidy history promulgated by her contemporary colonizers, Palestine’s history is messy, storied, splendid, rich, and tumultuous.
This featured plenary is based on an original project done in collaboration with Visualizing Palestine, whereby we will unveil a dynamic platform that has been created to integrate material culture, oral and written histories, maps, and archeology.
The research for this project has relied on the works of several important historians, such as Nur Masalha and Salman Abu Sitta, both of whom will take part in this plenary alongside Nasreen Abd Elal from Visualizing Palestine. This session is moderated by susan abulhawa.
