Literature from a Collective Wound | الأدب من جرح جماعي

*This session is in Arabic | Simultaneous translation available*

Palestinians are a diverse people, spanning the full spectrum of political ideologies, economic capacity, and faith. We are a multi-racial and multi-religious people.  And as a result of Israeli colonization, we are also a geographically fragmented society, which has further created linguistic and social barriers within our scattered nation.  But there are two areas where we are whole as one people: Our culture unites us, whether literature, food, dance, song, or other forms of artistic heritage.  We are also bound together by the generational trauma born from the Nakba—the mass expulsion of our people, and ongoing displacement, apartheid, and oppression by zionist colonial forces.

It is therefore common that so many of our creatives produce art and literature from this collective wound that binds us. This panel of esteemed cultural figures will discuss contemporary cultural productions that spring from a the pain of the unacknowledged anguish we inherit, and from a history yet unredeemed.
