Khalida Jarrar
Khalida Jarrar was born in Nablus in occupied Palestine. She has a Bachelor’s degree in business administration and Master’s degree in Democracy and Humans Rights, both from Birzeit University. She is a Palestinian femi-
nist human rights activist and advocate, and a former member of the Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC). Her high profile as a Palestinian leader dedicated to exposing Israeli war crimes to international institutions has made her a frequent target of Israeli arrests. She has been vocal since the 1980s in support of Palestinian prisoners, and is prominently active in working with Palestinian women and advocating for women’s rights. The first of multiple arrests began in March 1989, when she was detained for participating in a demonstration on International Women’s Day. She was arrested again in 2015, 2017, and 2019 during which she spent 5 years under administrative detention with her most recent release in September, 2021.
