Rachel Holmes

A PalFest veteran, Rachel Holmes is the author most recently of Eleanor Marx: A Life. Her new book Sylvia Pankhurst: Natural Born Rebel is published in December 2020, coinciding with the 19th Amendment centennial of women’s right to vote. Holmes is the co-editor of Fifty Shades of Feminism and I Call Myself a Feminist. She curated many programmes with Palestinian writers and artists while Director of Literature at London’s Southbank Centre. From 2009 to 2014 she was tutor and writer in residence at the Palestine Writing Workshop in the West Bank, a PalFest initiative. She is a contributor to This is Not A Border: Reportage & Reflection from the Palestine Festival of Literature and the British Refugee Tales project, calling for the end of indefinite immigration detention in the UK.
